But you still notice that your hair just isn’t looking as fabulous as you want it to. If you feel like your hair hasn’t grown at all lately and you’ve gone through all of the usual suspects, then we have something else for you to try.

You probably haven’t heard of fenugreek. We’ll be honest, we hadn’t until recently, either. But now that we know all about this amazing herb, we want to share what we found with you. Let’s dive right into fenugreek benefits for hair that you need to know about right now.

What fenugreek is

Fenugreek is a plant that comes from India or North Africa. It’s widely used in Indian cuisine. The leaves and seeds can be used in cooking, teas, and supplements. There are many ways you can eat and use it. You can sprinkle it on salads or grind it up in a powder or paste for recipes.

It has a flavor reminiscent of maple syrup, so if you like that nutty but sweet taste, then you’ll probably like fenugreek. It’s safe to eat every day as long as you don’t have an allergic reaction to it. The great news for your hair — and the rest of your body — is the plentiful iron, fiber, and protein it provides.

What it does for your hair

Let’s get more into this great news. How does your hair benefit from fenugreek? If your hair is lacking in the volume department, it can help create fuller tresses. That source of protein and iron we mentioned is crucial for healthy hair. But there’s so much more!

Ups the “anti”

Fenugreek is also packed with antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties. That’s what your scalp needs to serve as an optimum growing space for gorgeous, full hair.

It also has antimicrobial effects, which can help with dandruff prevention.

Slows loss

That anti-inflammatory aspect is also going to slow down the shedding. If you find hair everywhere and your brush is always full, fenugreek can help with all of that.

Strengthens and grows

Iron and protein to the rescue again! They help heal damaged hair and heal the hair shaft. Fenugreek also contains folic acid and vitamins A, C, and K, which will speed up your hair growth.

Bonus points for curly hair

If you have curly or coarse hair, fenugreek will actually be more beneficial to you. It can add shine and soften up your curls.

How to use it

There are a few ways to get the benefits of fenugreek seeds for your hair.

Take a supplement

The easiest way to harvest the powers of fenugreek is through a supplement. If you are already taking other supplements, then you’ll want to check with your doctor before adding another one to avoid interactions. But Fenugreek benefits your body in so many ways, taking a supplement is worth considering.

Make a hair mask

You can grind the seeds up into a paste and make an easy hair mask with it. Add honey, yogurt, milk, coconut, or any combo of those to make a 10-minute mask. Rinse when the time’s up and then wash your hair like normal. You only need to do the mask once a week, so it won’t take too much time to whip up and add to your routine.

Paste it on

You can always just skip the other ingredients and make a straight hair paste. Ground seeds mixed with a little water and you are done. Massage it into your scalp and coat your hair and leave it on for about 15 minutes before you get in the shower. Once a week is all you need to do.

If you make the mask or paste you’ll want to grab some fenugreek seeds for your hair. You can find them in most health food stores.

Between the protein, vitamins, minerals, and nutrients, we can’t think of a reason why you wouldn’t want to give this a try. Watch your hair grow faster, your scalp look and feel healthier, and your hair love you for adding fenugreek to your haircare routine.
