Absolute workhorse (8 years of daily use)
I bought this kettle in June of 2016 when I was first learning how to make coffee well. It was a cheap and highly rated item on amazon and I didn't want to spend too much on something I might not use long-term. I've used it basically every day since then with either an aeropress or a chemex and it's great overall.There is no whistle. The way I know the water is boiling is that I hear it boil over from another room. If you're using anything other than an electric stove this will probably be annoying.I used to let it boil over and then cool to my desired brewing temperature using the thermometer on top and it still works, but more often than not I'm in a rush and I just use it at the boiling temp making the thermometer function relatively useless on a day-to-day basis.I'm starting to notice discoloration on the bottom inner surface around the rim. I think it might be rust because I almost never empty the kettle fully.I'm in the market now for a kettle that will heat to a desired temperature (instead of boiling) and likely electric so it'll be faster, but this was a solid initial purchase when I wasn't sure if I would even use it regularly and it's held up for a lot longer than I thought it would.

I must write truthfully here. At first I didn't think I liked it so much. But this little pot has become a very functional appliance in my kitchen.
I would have given it a 4.5 star if I could, but the pros out weigh the cons by far.
First the cons. Since there are more to tell here.
The thermometer is very useful to have. You can perfect your brewing preference this way.
It is very well made. The lid is solid and exactingly made for the pot. Just the right amount of effort to remove and put back on without needing a design to be more complex with a seal or snap ring to become a future concern. After 4 months with this. It looks like it could last many years to come.
Easy to clean stainless surface with a double layer bottom. I like as a nice touch for added durability and heat control.
I believe the stainless steel surface is a timeless material for a kitchen appliance.
The cons. It has been recommended by the seller to boil some water in the pot a few times to properly clean it before use. Just to be on the safe side. Which I think you should follow. If you are more concerned about it being sterile, I'd use some vinegar as well. But you will have to rinse and repeat a few more times.
With my pot, I've found I had to boil a few more times to get a manufacturing odor out. The odor was a bit strong at first. I was a bit concerned whether it would completely disappear. I thought the odor was from the thermometer probe under the lid and I was concerned about the safety/quality of the water to drink. But was not the probe that created this odor. It was the plastic handle. And obviously the handle is not in the water, so my mind is put at ease. Since then, the odor is gone. I've been using it and the water tastes just fine.
My only wish was that the handle could have been a little better insulated so that you can confidently grab the handle with bare hands. I would suggest to a new owner to be on the cautious side. Place the pot on the stove with the handle a little farther from the heat or remind yourself to take the pot off the heat once it boils and you would be fine. Otherwise you could use a wash cloth or mitten to pick it up.
With this in mind it is not a deal breaker for the benefits this little pot offers. :)
My initial concerns were put at ease when the seller followed up with me to address them and resolve them. So I give the seller a 5 star for great communication and for being very accommodating to my needs.
Now I'm enjoying my pot a whole lot more. Both with tea and coffee use.
